Collegio Filippino sets 41st anniversary celebrations

The Pontificio Collegio Filippino, the home of Filipino priests pursuing studies in Rome, celebrates its 41st Foundation Anniversary next month with a series of activities lined up on the first five days, reflecting the spirit and mood of "Pagpaparangal at Pagpapasalamat".

The festivities kick off on May 1 with a Musical Concert at the Collegio at 3 p.m.  A Triduum follows, from the 2nd to the 4th of May, with a special theme highlighting each day.

The theme for the first day of the Triduum is "Collegio Filippino:  Nagpaparangal at Nagpapasalamat... sa mga Kababayang Manggagawa".  The Eucharistic Celebration at 3 p.m. will be presided by Msgr. Ruperto C. Santos, rector of the Collegio, followed by a Presentation of Awards and Recognition, and Bingo Socials at 4:30 p.m.

On May 3, Fr. Reynaldo Adalid, OP will celebrate Mass at 5 p.m., followed by a Presentation of Awards and Recognition, and the Fellowship Dinner at 6:30 p.m.  The theme for this second day is " Collegio Filippino:  Nagpaparangal at Nagpapasalamat... sa mga Kapwa Pari't Relihiyoso".

The third day of the Triduum focuses on the theme:  "Collegio Filippino:  Nagpaparangal at Nagpapasalamat... sa mga Kaibigang Tagapagtaguyod".  The 5 p.m. Mass will be celebrated by Fr. Enrico Emmanuel Ayo.  This will be followed by the Presentation of Awards and Recognition, and a Fellowship Dinner at 7:30 p.m.

The culminating highlight of the five-day celebration will be "Collegio Day" on the 5th of May, starting at 10:30 a.m.  A Paraliturgy and "Flores de Mayo" precedes the Eucharistic Celebration to be presided by Cebu Archbishop Ricardo Cardinal Vidal, chairman of the CBCP Episcopal Commission on Pontificio Collegio Filippino.  This will be followed by a Procession, a Fellowship Lunch, and the traditional Filipino Barrio Fiesta and Cultural Show.

As in past years, the Collegio Filippino will be joined in their anniversary groups of Filipinos in Rome.
