CLSP holds 10th National Convention The Canon Law
Society of the Philippines (CLSP) held its 10th Annual National Convention last April 8-11 at the Aklan Training Center in Kalibo, Aklan, focused on the theme "CLSP: A Decade of Service for Pastoral
Renewal".The assembly opened with an Inaugural Mass at 8 a.m. at St. John the Baptist Cathedral presided by Kalibo Bishop Gabriel Reyes and with Tandag Bishop Nereo Odchimar as homilist and keynote speaker.
Bishop Reyes welcomed the delegates and gave the first talk "On the Laity." This was followed by other inputs on "Empowerment of the Laity: The Canonical Rights and Duties of the Laity"
by Fr. Jaime Achacoso, JCD and "Canon Law at the Service of the Family" by Msgr. Romulo Vergara, JCD, with each talk followed by an Open Forum. A basketball game was between the CLSP and the Kalibo Clergy
capped the day's events. On April 10, the delegates began with Eucharistic Celebration, followed by a recap of the previous day's events. The fourth and last talk, "Towards the Integral Renewal of the Clergy
," was given by Borongan Bishop Leonardo Medroso, chairman of the CBCP Episcopal Commission on Canon Law. In the afternoon, the Society held their Business Meeting, and in the evening were treated to a
Cultural Show. After the morning Mass on April 11, the last day of the Convention, the participants enjoyed a group tour to Boracay Island. |
