NASSA, NAMFREL launch People vs. Tancangco Movement

The CBCP National Secretariat for Social Action, Justice and Peace (NASSA) and the National Citizens' Movement for Free Elections (NAMFREL) has launched the People vs. Tangcangco Movement, a multisectoral group pushing for the impeachment of Comelec Commissioner Luzviminda Tancangco.

The movement was formed to consolidate efforts to impeach the Comelec commissioner on the grounds of gross inexcusable negligence and betrayal of public trust.

Public supporters include more than 200 organizations and hundreds of individuals here and abroad.  At least 100 organizations and hundreds of individuals representing the academe, church, civil society, and business, among others, attend the launching.

Organizations include, among others, Kompil II, Konsyensyang Pilipino, Katotohanan, Social Democratic Caucus, Concerned Women of the Philippines, Catholic Diocesan Social Action Centers of Lipa, Lucena, Balanga, Manila, Antipolo, Tarlac, La Salle School System and the Ateneo School System.
